Social Bookmarking – What is it and Why you should be doing it

In a previous post, I referred to Social Bookmarking as a way for you to share links across the internet and improve your SEO.

What is Social Bookmarking?

Social Bookmarking is a way of sharing interesting content you come across on the internet. We’ve all emailed a link to a friend because we thought it was interesting or funny. Social Bookmarking sites allow you to share those links with everyone.

There are many Social Bookmarking sites out there, you’ve heard of Facebook, Twitter and Google+, right? Those are what could be defined as Social Bookmarking sites. I’ll list below a few that you might not be familiar with and should consider.

Why should you bookmark your site and your blog posts?

Each time a page from your website or blog is bookmarked by someone on a Social Bookmarking site, it gets viewed by their “friends” and followers. They might also share the links and so on… This will increase traffic to your site.

Whithin the Social Bookmarking sites, there are some which are reffered to as Social News sites. Those are article driven more than anything else. Social Bookmarking helps with SEO since it creates backlinks to your site.
